  1. Using this tutorial you will learn to use BUM by an example:
  2. after having loaded BUM we must insert the BBS (or Aminet sites) to
  3. which the user usually connect himself. To do it we have to insert
  4. the data of the first BBS in the square "BBS Data" of the "BBS Window"
  5. ed eventually the ratio and the credits of the user.
  6. To insert the BBS in the list you have to press the button "Insert"
  7. of the square "Panel".
  8. At this point BUM will send a message to the user in which remember
  9. him to insert the upload dir. Every BBS must have an upload dir, that is
  10. a dir in which there are the files to send to the current BBS.
  11. Two or more BBS (but also all the BBS) can share the upload dir.
  12. To set the upload dir you have to press the button "Set Upload Dir"
  13. of the "BBS Window" or editing the dir directly in the string gadget
  14. located on its right.

  16. Let do the same operations for all the others BBS; now we have a list
  17. in which we can move using the buttons "Next" and "Prev" of the square
  18. "Panel" (so you can select the current BBS).

  20. Now we have to insert the files in each BBS: so select the first BBS
  21. we had inserted as the current one and consider the "Download Window".
  22.  
  23. In this window there are the files to receive from the current BBS.
  24. The user can get the list of all the files of the system (or browse the list
  25. on-line), select the files he is interested in and insert them in the square
  26. "Files to receive". To do it you have to:

  28. - Select that square as the current one (pressing the square gadget
  29.   located above the button "<=Move").
  30.  
  31. - Insert data of the first file in the square "File Data" (the lenght in K).
  32.  
  33. - Press the button "Ins" of the square "Panel". "Ins" get file info in the square
  34.   "File Data" and insert them in the current square.
  35.  
  36. - Repeat all the operation for every file to download.

  38. When you have done, in the square "Files to receive" there will be present all
  39. the files to download, while in the informative gadgets there will be
  40. some information about the same files; in the gadget called "N" there
  41. will be their number, in the gadget called "S" their lenght and in the
  42. two gadgets called "TIME" the time they need to be transfered.
  43. (considering the parameter "BPS" of the "Configuration window").

  45. Now look at the square "Next files to receive" that contains the files
  46. that the user wants to receive during the next connection.
  47. By the buttons "<=Move" and "Move=>" of the square "Files to receive" it is
  48. possible to transfer some files from that square to the square
  49. "Next files to receive" (destination list). The file that will be transfered
  50. is the one is actually highlight in the source list.

  52. After having effected the connection and downloaded the files the user
  53. will have to transfer all the files in the "Next files to receive"
  54. to the square "Files received" and prepare the files to download
  55. in the next connection.

  57. Now let go in the "Upload Window". In it there are the files that the user
  58. wants to send to the archieve. The rules of this window are very similar
  59. to the "Download Window", but there are some difference because of the files
  60. of this window have a physical corrispondence in the HD of the user (in fact
  61. the user has to be send them).
  62. This fact means that:

  64. - If you press the button "Ins",a file requester will be displayed.
  65.   In this file requester the user will have to choose a file (obviusly that is
  66.   already present in the his HD) that will be copied in the upload dir of the
  67.   BBS. If the file choosen is already in the upload dir all will be good (or
  68.   rather should be always so).

  70. - If you press the button "Del" also the file in the HD will be deleted
  71.   (its path is "upload dir" + "name of the file").

  73. - If you press the button "Move=>" of the square "Next files to send" BUM
  74.   will check if the file to be moved is not used by others BBS and if so will delete it
  75.   from the upload dir (because it is used no more by all the BBS).
